Growing up in the Basque Country, Yona was inspired by the region’s vibrant culture of sharing tapas with family and friends. His passion for food ignited in his teens, leading him to begin his culinary career at the renowned Hotel Du Palais.

From there, he honed his craft in London at the 2 Michelin-starred Joël Robuchon before making his mark in Australia. Yona worked with culinary legends Neil Perry at Rockpool Bar & Grill, mastering smoky wood-fired flavours, and Andrew McConnell at Cumulus Inc., focusing on the finest organic, locally-sourced ingredients.

Now, with over 12 years of experience cooking for the world’s best, Yona brings his passion for unforgettable dining to your Holiday Shacks stay.
